Vanderbilt Law School Partners with AltaClaro to Become First Law School to Offer AI-Powered Deposition Simulator DepoSim to Students

The Legal Wire published an article covering Vanderbilt Law School's partnership with AltaClaro to bring DepoSim, an AI-powered deposition simulation platform built in collaboration with Verbit, to students beginning in the Fall 2026 semester. According to the article, Vanderbilt is the first law school to bring DepoSim into legal education, expanding its AI Law Lab initiative and giving students hands-on opportunities to develop practical deposition skills using artificial intelligence.

The piece describes how DepoSim immerses students in realistic simulations featuring varying witness personalities, real-time objections from opposing counsel, and the unpredictability of actual litigation, followed by immediate rubric-based feedback on their questioning strategy and techniques, professionalism, responsiveness, and overall performance. Students will access DepoSim through Vanderbilt's Legal Practice Technology course, Law Firm Practice Simulation course, and other clinical offerings, as well as independently through the Vanderbilt Law Library. Initial simulations span commercial litigation, employment law, intellectual property, antitrust, securities, mass torts, and expert witness depositions.

The article also highlights AltaClaro's plans to expand the platform later this year with additional simulations for trial practice, oral arguments, discovery, client interviews, and negotiation scenarios, all of which Vanderbilt students will gain access to as they become available. As Emily Pavuluri, Associate Director of the Vanderbilt AI Law Lab, shared with The Legal Wire, "Simulation technology gives students somewhere to practice before a real client is depending on how they handle it. DepoSim helps students develop critical thinking skills, and demonstrates how AI can enhance education itself, not just provide productivity efficiency."
