AltaClaro, Verbit Team Up For Deposition Simulation Software

In Law360, Matt Perez covers AltaClaro's partnership with AI-powered transcription platform Verbit to launch DepoSim, which provides deposition simulation training for attorneys.

The coverage details how DepoSim uses text-to-speech, speech-to-text, and large language model features to simulate witnesses, opposing counsel, and court reporters within a deposition setting —technology the companies said can replace deposition role-playing with paid actors and off-site training programs.

AltaClaro CEO Abdi Shayesteh framed the launch as "the next step in leveraging AI to enhance essential human-to-human communication skills that are indispensable and cannot be automated," while Verbit CEO Yair Amsterdam highlighted how the partnership combines "Verbit's secure, court-proven transcription and innovative legal AI technology with AltaClaro's industry-leading pedagogy" to provide attorneys with an immersive training environment that mirrors real depositions with remarkable fidelity.

The article notes that DepoSim grew from a collaboration that began last year, culminating with a beta in the fall. Six firms participated in a five-week beta pilot, including Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe, K&L Gates, McDermott Will & Emery, Littler Mendelson, Taft Stettinius & Hollister, and Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck. Orrick's Chief Innovation Officer Wendy Butler Curtis called it "a concrete example of how we're transforming legal training" as clients inquire about the firm's adaptation to the AI era.
