AltaClaro Announces Launch of M&A Program with Esade and FGV-Rio Law Schools

New York, NY, June 29, 2021 – Leading experiential learning platform for lawyers, AltaClaro, has partnered with two top global law schools, Esade in Spain and FGV-Rio in Brazil, to offer AltaClaro’s cutting-edge M&A coursework to law students beginning this summer.

AltaClaro will kick-off the program in July with two of its foundational M&A Master Classes for 40+ select group of students from each law school. The AltaClaro program will provide the students with essential, practical M&A skills taught through mock transactions and live feedback sessions with highly vetted and experienced global practitioners. All coursework is delivered online, coupled with video modules, interactive quizzes and other assessment tools uniquely adapted for online learning.

As law schools across the globe are being forced to rethink their curriculum delivery with the uncertainty caused by the pandemic, AltaClaro’s proven scalable model bridges this gap, providing law students around the world with the opportunity to learn international and transactional law where they are when they want.

AltaClaro’s unique experiential learning model helps students become “practice-ready,” which is increasingly critical in today’s competitive international job market. Unlike other online course providers, AltaClaro leverages the best of technology to augment—not detract from—the benefits of experiential learning.

AltaClaro’s model offers a turn-key solution that law schools can implement to supplement existing curricula, using an intensive learning series for credit or offering it as a stand-alone, badgeable certification program.

“At Esade Law School, offering our students innovative programs that give them an advantage in the competitive global business environment is our top priority,” says Dr. Eduardo Berché Moreno, Dean of Esade Law School. “We have seen that AltaClaro’s experiential learning framework is exceptionally effective in preparing students for the practical legal skills they need to hit the ground running in international business transactions.”

“Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Rio de Janeiro Law School believes in training today’s law students to thrive in the global environment, so giving students this kind of experience and exposure is aligned with our mission,” said Prof. Sergio Guerra, Dean of FGV-Rio Law School. “In Brazil and around the world today, we are witnessing an unprecedented growth in international transactional legal work. Offered in an entire online format, AltaClaro provides excellent training for the future of work, that is almost certain to be the way of the world moving forward.”

“As the industry leader in practical legal training, we are excited to expand our offerings to law students at top law schools Esade in Spain and FGV-Rio in Brazil. We have previously integrated AltaClaro’s experiential coursework into UK-based Durham University Law School, which was very well received,” said Abdi Shayesteh, CEO of AltaClaro. “Law students at our partner schools are taking courses that are similar to what we offer to new practitioners at top law firms across the globe, so they will be ready to work on international transactions with a deeper understanding of what’s involved and necessary to complete a deal.”

About FGV-Rio Law School

FGV was founded in 1944 to prepare leaders for the public and private sectors in Brazil. The country was then laying the foundations for its future economic growth, a process that resulted in fast-paced development. In recent decades, institutional reforms in Brazil have given rise to new problems that require a new perspective on teaching law, and Brazil’s increasingly important role in international trade and foreign investment has led to a questioning of classical approaches to law and to the emergence of new areas of scholarly interest.
