Who we are looking for:

We’re looking for a Senior Editor to oversee individual creation and editing of original legal education content within our Content Team.  

The ideal Senior Editor is a former lawyer with a passion for learning, writing, and presenting the law, combined with an appreciation for the challenges that law firm associates have and a deep respect for their time and intelligence.  You have a burning desire to create things with other people (things that are bigger than you), and you want to help others become successful in their career.  

As a team member of the content creation team reporting to the Executive Editor, you will manage and contribute to the creation of original educational content and resources (i.e., instructional videos and content, simulation exercises, slides, quizzes, transactional documents, checklists, flow charts, best practices, model answers, course storyboards, etc.). Conceptualize and write modules consisting of easily digestible distillations of relevant law and practical guidance for attorneys executing a variety of transactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and support assigned Course Development from initial work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) through the editing and production process.  Our training includes original educational content and resources (i.e., instructional videos and content, simulation exercises, slides, quizzes, transactional documents, checklists, flow charts, best practices, model answers, course storyboards, etc.). 
  • Work closely with SMEs to manage their involvement in content creation.
  • Conceptualize and help create modules consisting of easily digestible distillations of relevant law and practical guidance for attorneys executing a variety of transactions.
  • Manage the course development process and other related logistics 
  • Manage interactions between AC's editorial team, SMEs, course production team, graphic artists, and project manager to complete the course from start to finish

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience creating online course content or legal training or know-how guide or programs
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Am Law 100  law firm.
  • Expertise in Corporate, M&A, IP/tech transactions, and/or financial transactions 
  • JD from ABA-accredited school and active license 
  • A good understanding of the needs and priorities of law firm attorneys and the legal market in general

Preferred (Bonus) Qualifications:

  • Teaching or training experience, e.g. in a legal writing/skills course 
  • Previous experience creating/editing 
  • Start up or other business experience a big plus
  • Experience working remotely or within a distributed team environment
