Executive Editor/ VP, Content Development

Who we are looking for:

We’re looking for a VP, Content Development who will oversee the creation and editing of original legal education content; this content will take the form of interactive practical skills training courses that are taught by experienced practitioners via video, simulation exercises, and small group virtual sessions. 

The ideal VP, Content Development has a passion for producing engaging training and development content.  You have a deep appreciation for the challenges that practicing professionals like law firm associates have, combined with a deep respect for their time and intelligence.  You have a burning desire to create things with other people (things that are bigger than you), and you want to help others become successful in their career.  

As the hands-on leader of the content creation team, you will manage and contribute to the creation of original educational content and resources (i.e., instructional videos and content, simulation exercises, slides, quizzes, transactional documents, checklists, flow charts, best practices, model answers, course storyboards, etc.). Conceptualize and write modules consisting of easily digestible distillations of relevant law and practical guidance for attorneys executing a variety of transactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and support the Course Development and Production process by creating original educational content and resources (i.e., instructional videos and content, simulation exercises, slides, quizzes, transactional documents, checklists, flow charts, best practices, model answers, course storyboards, etc.). 
  • Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to manage their involvement in content creation.
  • Conceptualize and help create modules consisting of easily digestible distillations of relevant law and practical guidance for attorneys executing a variety of transactions.
  • Manage the course development process and other related logistics 
  • Manage interactions between AC's editorial team, SMEs, course production team, graphic artists, and project manager to complete the course from start to finish

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience creating online course content or know-how guide or programs focused on experiential learning
  • A track record managing content production, instructional design, and editorial
  • A good understanding of the needs and priorities of busy professionals in general

Preferred (Bonus) Qualifications:

  • Experience in an Am Law 100  law firm, preferably in corporate, M&A, IP/tech transactions or financial transactions 
  • JD from ABA-accredited school  
  • Teaching or training experience, e.g. in a legal writing/skills course 
  • Previous experience leading a content creation team including editorial and production resources
  • Start up or other business experience a big plus
  • Experience working remotely or within a distributed team environment
